Welcome to my blog! I am Natalie Cates! A culinary school graduate who has worked as a pastry chef for several years, but now I just make cakes on the side and enjoy my Foodie-ness (yes, I created my own word) as an awesome hobby. Lately, making cakes for special occassions, has taken a halt, because I am expecting my first child, and I just finished the dreaded first trimester!! So, now that the energy level is back up, and the nausea has subsided, I am ready to start baking again! I have barely even been making dinner ( strange for me ) and my poor husband has been taking the reigns in the dinner department ( sweet and scary, all in one ). This means very basic cooking and a LOT of takeout. :D
Basically, just to give you an overview of myself, I LOVE food, and creating new things, which is why I started a Food Blog, of course. I am a follower of Christ, who is trying to get involved in my new awesome church, and I hope to somehow use my baking skills to serve God and others... somehow. Also, I have a wonderful husband, I am carrying my first fetus (lol), I have an insane puppy whom I take far too many pictures of, (I am that crazy dog lady), and I am just crazy. I am the girl at the party who initiates the 'tie the pantyhose around your waist with an apple dangling from them, and girate your hips to hit another apple game' ... you know this one...

I apologize for this first boring blog, but I had to start somewhere, and why not start with me! I hope this blog gives you some motivation to not be afraid to make your own celebration cakes, and not spend the money at the grocery store or bakery for some mediocore one. I hope to share lots of yummy recipes with you that I have tested and of course, some of my sneaky little tricks to help you along the way!
